Melody Datz Hansen is a writer, doula, and Certified Lactation Counselor in Seattle.

Hello and welcome! I’m currently practicing as certified lactation counselor while I wait for results from the certifying board exams for my IBCLC license (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). My work is informed by backgrounds in my own parenting journey, a career in global health research, birth work education from Bastyr University and Lactation Education Resources, and a firm belief in the power of instinct.

The physical and emotional changes that come with the birth or adoption of a new child are life-altering. Each family’s needs are unique. My approach to infant feeding centers on the acknowledgement, respect, and support of these needs.

I live in Seattle with my family but am originally from San Antonio, Texas. When I’m not working with babies, I enjoy hiking with my fam, writing about performing arts for local newspapers, and baking (and eating) bread.

Links to my online publications are here and here.
